Mathieu Matégot

Matégot est né en Hongrie, entre 1925 et 1929 il étudie aux beaux arts de Budapest. Il fait un séjour en Italie et aux Etats Unis avant de se fixer en France en 1931.
Il commence comme étalagiste, puis à partir de 1933 réalise ses premiers meubles. Mais c'est aprés guerre qu'il devient célèbre par ces objets de décorations à la fabrication industrielle. Il fonde deuw usine une à Paris l'autre à Casablanca, En 1952 il expose au salon des artistes décorateurs, puis dans la plupart des salons en france et à l'étranger (Amériques, Angleterre, Italie..)
Ses matières sont le formica, le laiton, le rotin, le verre et le bois, ses formes sont recherchés et pratiques. Il est souvent connu pour ses réalisations en tôles perforées. Dans les sixties, il se lance dans un autre de ses domaines de création la tapisserie.
